Variable Speed Pumps
EcoStar Variable Speed Pump
In 2012, the State of Florida changed the building code requiring that all new pools must use a variable speed pump. These pumps are able to vary the speed of the pump to the specific application’s need such as daily filtration, operating a pool cleaner, solar heater, water features, spas, and much more. A Hayward EcoStar variable speed pump can save up to 90% of the cost of using a single speed pump, thanks to a super-efficient permanent magnetic motor, totally enclosed fan cooled motor, and advanced hydraulic design.
There is much more to a variable speed pump. The magnetic motor and advanced hydraulic design moves water more efficiently. In doing so, the pump runs at incredibly quiet operation without any wasted heat energy.
EcoStar pumps can be run without having to buy additional equipment or accessories. It has a fully programmable, self contained 24 hour time clock with up to 8 custom speed and timer functions. For advanced pool features, an EcoStar can also be controlled by Hayward controls such as ProLogic, OnCommand, and E-Command for advanced water features, pool/spa, combinations, heater controls, sanitation, and solar heating to maximize energy savings.
TriStar Speed Pump
Variable speed pumps require a minimum of 2 inch pool plumbing. On many older pools, the pool plumbing is 1 ½ inches. In these cases, we recommend the use of a high-performance Hayward TriStar pump. These pumps offer up to 70% savings on your pool energy costs. It is the most hydraulically efficient pool pump that provides superior flow and energy efficiency. This allows for stepping down in pump horsepower for even less energy consumption. The heavy-duty performance motor with dynamic airflow delivers cooler operation and added energy savings.
