Clayton has been in the roofing and building industry for over two decades. Starting out in the repair division and then supervisor at a local Master Elite company here in Sarasota, he soon worked his way up to sales. He was named top in sales for two years in a row as well as top sales in the region for GAF. Clayton has extensive knowledge in all roofing materials and attachments. He was also one of the areas few Tesla solar roofing reps. With his knowledge in roofing and solar, it only made sense to jump on the opportunity when his father in law decided it was time to retire and sell the business. We are confidently able to remove and reattach most major brand solar pool heating systems, solar hot water collectors and solar electric systems. Whether the customer is going with shingle, standing seam or a new tile roof, we’ve got a roof attachment for it! We also warranty our own roof penetrations for 10 years. Jim founded Roark Solar LLC in 1978. He is a Florida State certified solar contractor, CVC56710 and a state certified pool contractor, CPC1458076. His solar heating experience spans over 35 years, but he isn’t your ordinary solar contractor. For starters, he holds a university degree in physics and actually taught physics before entering the solar industry.
Jim’s experience as a physics instructor made him a perfect fit to train solar technicians and sales representatives. He joined Aquatherm Industries as one of the manufacturer’s first few employees in 1976. While trained as a physicist, Jim advanced through the marketing side of the company, becoming national sales manager within a short time. During his time with the young manufacturing company, sales increased ten-fold, from just $500,000 in 1976 to more than $5 million two years later.
This sort of success demanded extensive travel, and Jim decided to leave Aquatherm Industries in 1978 to spend more time with his family. But he didn’t stray far; becoming the Aquatherm Industries dealer for Sarasota and Manatee counties.
